The menus are easy to use and provide small adjustments so that you don’t have to physically move your projector if say, it’s mounted on the ceiling or what have you. Being a DLP projector, it does have a bit of fan noise, which is only really possible to hear if you don’t have any sound playing. Another con to DLP is that if you shift your eyes really quickly during certain images, you can see the color wheel artifacts on the screen. This is a minor annoyance to me, but if you think it would bother you, I would suggest going with a 3LCD model.
Since I have this hooked up through a receiver, I have not tested the built in speaker nor have I tried the 3D feature in the projector, though I intend to once I can find some reliable 3D glasses that are compatible. Overall a good buy and an excellent stopgap for someone who wants 4K quality, but doesn’t want to shell out the cost for a *true* 4K projector just yet.

My Setup
I set up this projector in my very bright living room. I have 5 7-foot windows perpendicular to my screen, so we get lots of natural sunlight during the days here in Texas. Even with that, the picture is quite clear and not washed out, at least IMO(first two pics).
I paired this projector with a CineGrey screen. I highly recommend using the light absorbing screen material if using in a bright room. It really helps with daytime picture quality. I think I spent another $120 for the CineGrey.
The next two pictures and video are with my window shutters closed to block out as much light as possible. You can see a marked improvement in picture quality. However, this projector really shines at night or in darkness. It's theater quality and a bright, crisp picture.
Pros
1. Bright picture, even during the day.
2. The sound is quite clear, especially if sitting below or near it. I have a sound system, so that feature is muted on mine. But during initial install I did test that out.
3. Lightweight...easy to handle.
Cons
1. Ceiling mount options are limited. I purchased a universal mount and had to shimmy it to make it work.
2. Limited keyhole adjustment. I spent too much time trying to get it perfect.
My overall advice for anyone thinking about using a projector in living rooms or bright rooms is to get the highest lumen projector over 3000lm you can afford. Obviously 4k projectors are better, but you can't beat this for a 1080p.

Whether you're diving into the latest gaming titles or enjoying your favorite movies, the Optoma HD28HDR delivers a truly cinematic experience at the comfort of your home. Its versatility, coupled with the fantastic features like 4K support, HDR compatibility, and enhanced gaming mode, make it a standout choice for anyone seeking high-quality visuals and an immersive experience. Investing in this projector is a decision you won't regret, as it elevates your home entertainment to a whole new level.
The image quality is great, and some people find it too dark... I find it too bright! I activated the Econo mode to dim it down.
Really pleased for the price paid (650$ CAD)!
The only cons I could say is the menu isn't that intuitive for some options. But most of them are par with standards.
